Peter Märkli is admired worldwide for the otherworldly and poetic quality of his architecture. He has built extensively in the private and public sectors, but has not yet completed a project in Russia. He has collaborated with artists extensively and has a deep professional interest in the relationship between landscape and architecture.
This is Peter Märkli's second visit to the Nikola-Lenivets Art Park, during which he will develop a more detailed landscape project, which is set to significantly transform the spacial organisation of the largest open air museum of site-specific art in Europe.
Peter Märkli's visit is part of the Nikola-Lenivets Classroom 'New Rural' season of education and ideas- exchange events. Peter will be assisted by a select group of young Russian architects, who will help produce drawings, site maps and prototypes needed to complete the project in 2019-2020.
Nikola-Lenivets Classroom is also collaborating with Moscow Architecture School to host a public lecture by Peter Märkli in Moscow on the 22 October.
