The symposium is be held in conjunction with the Art as Labour in Nikola-Lenivets exhibition in Peresvetov Lane Gallery. Speakers include leading international and Russian thinkers and practitioners in the field.

The Symposium is aimed at sharing ideas, and forming a discourse in the fast-developing subject area of art and labour of the future, which critically analyses a reforming labour market, transformed countryside and fast-changing urban society. Speakers include leading international and Russian thinkers and practitioners in the field.

Art or Labour in a Post-work Future?
Panel discussion

The discussion explores the role of art and making in today's economy and ecology of means. What is the relationship between art and labour in tomorrow's world? How can art generate and support communities following mass automation in the post-work future? How can we build a sustainable future for the rural landscape in Russia and beyond? The catalyst for this conversation will be recent directions in Russian art aimed at restoring lost identity and cohesion of society through the revival of craft or the invention of a new technological and new-media artforms.

Robert Mull, innovator in education and socio-cultural projects, Head of the Global Practice Unit and Head of the School of Architecture and Design at Brighton University, UK
Dorota Kozaczuk, expert in political economy of violence conflict and development, PhD candidate at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, Switzerland

Speakers will touch upon the topic of self-organization and community support through art, education and socio-cultural projects in rapidly changing contexts, such as Moscow, and in underdeveloped rural areas. The discussion will turn to international experience and highlight the emergence of unique cultural rituals in contemporary Russian reality, in relation to the global context.

Evening Lecture by Ana Betancour

Ana Betancour is an architect and rector at UMA School of Architecture, Umeå, Sweden. She is also a Professor in Architecture and Urban Design and was previously Director of the Masters programme in Architecture and Urban Design at Chalmers University of Technology.
Ana's work includes numerous projects that range from architectural and urban design, academic research, cultural and new media activism projects. Her work investigates alternative strategies and ways of catalysing change within global transformations affecting cities today.
Ana is the founder of the Urban Research Laboratory, and runs Urban + Architecture Agency.

Роберт Малл | Robert Mull

Архитектор, педагог, урбанист и активист. Глава архитектурного факультета Брайтонского университета, один из со-основателей архитектурной школы МАРШ в Москве и создатель международной программы Global Practice Unit. Совмещает свои академические посты с исследованием роли архитектуры и дизайна в преодолении социальных кризисов, работает в зонах сильных социальных и экономических изменений.
В 1980е он входил в радикальную архитектурную группу NATO, оказавшую влияние на современную британскую архитектуру. В 2015 создал радикальный дискуссионный клуб Turncoats («Отступники»), бросающий вызов существующей системе архитектурной практики и образования. Дебаты клуба проходят в Великобритании, Америке, Канаде, Сербии и Ирландии. Роберт также является директором по инновациям британского центра стратегического планирования городской среды и публичных пространств Publica.

Ксения Аджубей | Xenia Adjoubei

Руководитель международных проектов и ведущий преподаватель Московской архитектурной школы МАРШ. Основатель и партнер архитектурного бюро ASW Studio с проектами в Дубай, Лондоне и Москве в области социальных и культурных проектов. С 2013 года руководитель образовательных проектов в области архитектуры в арт-парке Никола-Ленивец.
Кроме образовательной и архитектурной деятельности Ксения ведет исследования и курирует выставки на темы "Новое сельское" и "Post-work будущее". Ксения входит в кураторский и экспертный совет Московского Урбанистического Форума.
